Incorporated by an
act of Congress in 1937, the Marine Corps League perpetuates the traditions and
spirit of ALL Marines who proudly wear or who have worn the eagle, globe and
anchor of the Corps.
Members
of the Marine Corps League join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the
purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of the United
States Marine Corps. This is accomplished by banding together those who
are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been
honorably discharged from that service; voluntarily aiding and rendering
assistance to all Marines and former Marines and to their widows and orphans,
and by perpetuating the history of the United States Marine Corps through
fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular
interest to Marines.
Who are The Metro South Marines?
The Metro South Marines are former
Marines that have served in the United States Marine Corps honorably. The
Marines in this organization are local men and women working and living within
your community. They are business owners, civil service workers, white collar
workers, blue collar workers and so on and so on. All extraordinary people with
a cause, a cause to make a difference for his or her fellow Marines and a cause
to help in their community if called upon.
What do the Metro South Marines Do?
The Metro South Detachment
of the Marine Corps League is a non-profit organization that provides aid voluntarily
and renders assistance to all Marines uniformed and civilian, as well as to
their families. We promote the traditions, promote the interest, and perpetuate
the history of the United States Marine Corps, and observe anniversaries of
historical occasions of particular interest to Marines. As an organization of
Marines we hold sacred the memory and history of men who have given their lives
to this Nation
The Metro South Marines take
great pride in having served their country. Now we take even greater pride in
serving in our communities. We serve our communities by volunteering time to
visit Veteran hospitals, March in Parades, volunteering in various community
events. We also provide Scholarships for schooling, hold food drives, support
local youth sports, support other non-profit groups and toy for tots.
